Utilities System Apprentice

The environment is very important to us. In this job, you will be an active participant in maintaining a clean environment. You will operate, maintain and repair water collection, supply and treatment plants and systems and wastewater treatment plants and systems. You will perform analysis on water and wastewater samples to comply with Environmental Protection Agency guidance. Also, training will be given in the operation and setting up of field water purification units as well as field water distribution systems and wastewater collection and disposal. Your civilian equivalent would be a municipal water/wastewater treatment plant operator. You will do work similar to a civilian plumber, such as repairing, maintaining or replacing washers, valve seats, leaking faucets and interior/exterior water/sewer lines and mains. You will also unclog drains, commodes, sinks and traps. You will learn principles of operation and construction features of backflow prevention devices, natural gas distribution systems and fire suppression systems. PAY CHART
